FAQ

What are we looking for?

When we want to communicate effectively, we provide specific details. This is true of poetry as well as fiction. We hope to see poems that pay attention to specific detail, rhythm, word choice, and form. Poems that utilize rhyme and predictable rhythms should not allow those elements to dominate the poem. We are interested in any type of fiction, from realistic, literary stories to fantasy and science fiction. We are also interested in personal essays that explore an experience.

When can I submit?

Each fall the student editors determine the time frame for submissions. The call for submissions usually goes out in early September. The deadline is usually in late October. All submissions should be sent as attached files to mwalling@ecok.edu

What about copyright?

Students retain all copyrights to their work and may submit works accepted by Originals to other magazines and publications.
